Austin, Texas-The University of the Ozarks men's tennis team began the 2018 season with a convincing 9-0 win over Sul Ross State University on Friday.
The Eagles quickly claimed a 3-0 start in doubles action. At number two doubles, Cole Lankford and Jonah Martinez clinched an 8-1 win over Javier Gayton and Christopher Llamas. The Eagles continued their momentum in to singles play. Senior Spencer Turner took a victory over Victor Garcia at the number four position, 6-0, 6-2. Jonah Martinez defeated Javier Gayton at the number two singles position, 7-5, 6-2. Sophomore Reid Birch claimed a win over Sergio Solis (6-0, 6-0) in number five singles.
The Eagles will continue play in Austin with a doubleheader against Howard Payne University and Concordia University Texas on February 10th.
