Ozarks had a tough test on Senior Night, as they hosted the number 25 nationally ranked Texas Dallas Comets and fell 81-51. As tall of a task as it seemed, the Eagles held their own in the first quarter. The score after the first was 20-14 in favor of the Comets. At the 4:42 mark of the second quarter, Victoria Pena made the first three point shot of the evening, which sparked an 8-0 run by the visitors. Texas Dallas took off from there and went on to hold a 39-23 advantage at the half. Despite shooting 45 percent from the field and going a perfect 10-for-10 from the line, the Eagles still trailed 62-43 after three quarters of play. The Comets outscored Ozarks 19-8 down the stretch to secure the victory. Freshman forward Cassie Emerson finished with 18 points for the Eagles, and senior guard Anisha Johnson added 7 points, 5 assists, and 8 rebounds. Pena and Alexa Boushey paced the Comets with 13 apiece.
UT Dallas shot 49 percent from the field and limited the Eagles to just 28 percent. The visitors also won the second chance points battle, 24-11.
Ozarks got to the line 21 times Thursday night and made good on 19 of those attempts.
Next Thursday, the Eagles will travel to Pineville, Louisiana, to take on Louisiana College.
