The Eagles climbed within four points late in the second half but never caught Texas Dallas as the Comets gained a 69-57 win in their American Southwest Conference opener. The Comets opened the game with a 11-0 run before the Eagles tied the score 18-18 on Cordy Winston's bucket at the 9:28 mark. The Comets went into halftime in front 32-25. In the second half, a Zach Bobo jumper at the 5:24 mark pulled the Eagles within four points, but the Comets reeled off a 16-8 run in the final five minutes. In the game, the Comets went to the free throw line 27 times, while the Eagles went eight times. Jacobe Davis had 13 points to lead the Eagles.
