Clarksville, Ark. – The Eagles had a number of wrestlers place at the University of Central Missouri Kaufman Brand Bayly Open on Sunday in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Freshman Javin Douglas highlighted the competition by winning the 133 amateur division. In addition to Douglas, the Eagles had two fourth place finishes, two sixth place finishes, one third place finish and one fifth place finish. Douglas, a native of Mustang, Okla., won by tech fall over Kaven Bartlett from Newman. He then won by fall over Nat`aani Prado from Baker and followed that with a win by fall over Michael Martin from Missouri Valley. In the finals, Douglas won by major decision over Karim Allal, the No. 3 ranked junior college wrestler.

Zander Payne placed third in the 141-pound division. Payne won by fall over Hayden Ferrell from Missouri Valley. He then won by fall over Trent Moses from Newman. He also won by decision over Luke Adams. At 125, Shelton Chastain finished fourth. He won by decision over Dylan Sheler, the No. 10 ranked NCAA II wrestler. He then won in sudden victory over Sam Shafer from Maryville. Airamis Mendoza placed fourth in the 165-pound division. Mendoza won by fall over Joe Juitt from Avila. He won by decision over three straight opponents: Gabriel Orosco from Quincy, Jackson Jones from Quincy and Ethan Muir from University of Central Missouri. At 285, Jadaan Anderson placed fifth. Anderson won by fall over Landen Brinkley from Carl Albert. He won by decision over Nolan Frank from Missouri Valley. At 141, Luke Adams placed sixth. He won by fall over Joseph Kenny from Missouri Valley. Adams won by fall over Weston Ward from Central Methodist. He also won by fall over Kason Mitchell from Carl Albert. Iyanu Akingbolagun placed sixth. Akingbolagun won by fall over Erik Tomanek from Newman. He won by major decision over Samuel Murphy from NEO and won by decision over Jacob Ruff from Central Methodist.

"The guys did a good job today," said head coach Vinny Barber. "Being a Sunday event was a  little different for us, but they still performed well. Shelton had a great win beating the tenth-ranked wrestler in NCAA II.  Javin won his first college tournament and scored a major over a tough opponent in the finals. We had a other guys place and have great weekends."

The Eagles will host the U of O Quad Meet on December 7. The meet will also be Senior Day for the Eagles.
