SAAC

University of the Ozarks student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) is a committee made up of student-athletes whose responsibility is to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The committee also offers input to the NCAA on the rules, regulations and polices that affect student-athletes' lives at Ozarks. SAAC regularly volunteers for a variety of community service projects, including the Special Olympics, and participates in a number of on-campus activities.

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) By-laws
The SAAC of University of the Ozarks is a direct representative of its school, the American Southwest Conference (ASC), and the NCAA Division III. This SAAC represents the values that are presented and upheld by each.
I. Mission Statement: The mission of the University of the Ozarks’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to provide a
means of communication for Student-Athletes for issues that affect their lives in and out of the field of competition. Members and Affiliates of SAAC also stand in leadership roles amongst their teams and peers, especially in terms of service or activity on and off campus.
II. Duties
A. Attend all SAAC meetings and events of Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Members.
Serve as a vehicle of communication from respective sport to SAAC executives and other members.
Listen to the needs of Student-Athletes and help strive for solutions towards these needs.
Serve in at least 4 events throughout the respective year in Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Support, recruit, and grow SAAC on campus, as well as within the community.
Represent your respective team, and SAAC, in a positive manner.
Organize events and community service efforts.
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Membership
Two Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Members will be selected from each team.
The SAAC member must have a 2.75 GPA.
The SAAC member must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits.
The SAAC member must be of sophomore class or higher.
SAAC members from the same respective team must be of different class.
SAAC members are encouraged to serve for multiple years.
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Meetings:
Meeting attendance is required.
1. After (1) unexcused absence, member will be notified.
2. After (2) unexcused absences, head coach of member’s respective team and member will
be notified.
3. After (3) unexcused absences, member will be dismissed from Student-Athlete Advisory
Committee and the search for a replacement member will begin.
C. Members must notify in advance, as well as have a temporary replacement in the case of missing a meeting.
In the case of a meeting being rescheduled, all SAAC members will be notified a reasonable time in advance and held accountable for attending prepared for the meeting.
SAAC members will be given information about what the next meeting will be about and will be responsible for preparing before the meeting, and contributing during the meeting.
Each meeting will end with a clear overview of actions that will be required before the next meeting.
V. Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Executive Board
NCAA recognizes a need for some type of executive board overlooking the operations of SAAC.
The University of the Ozarks SAAC executive board is made up of: A president, a vice-president,
a secretary, a treasurer, and a social media coordinator.
Each member of executive board will be replaced once:
1. The member graduates or dismissed from SAAC.
To serve on the University of the Ozarks SAAC executive board, said member must have a petition to run with a certain amount of signatures.
Following the above process, if there are two members running for the same position, SAAC members will vote. The member in contest with the most votes will be asked to accept the position.
