Poteau, Okla. – The Eagles had a strong showing at the Carl Albert Viking Open on Saturday in Poteau with three wrestlers winning their respective weight classes.
 
Shelton Chastain (125), Julian Banda (157) and Ka'Ron Lewis (285) all won first place at the tournament. Chastain won by decision over Christian Forbes (Dec 3-2) and then won by tech fall over Noah Clayton from Tarleton State (TF 25-10). In the semifinals, Chastain won by fall over Gage Jessen from Ouachita Baptist University (Fall 1:04). In the first place match, Chastain won by fall over Hunter Jackson from Carl Albert State (Fall 6:24). Banda won by fall over Brenden Fresquez from Texas A&M Wrestling Club (Fall 2:32) and then won by major decision over Louden Mcdoulett (Maj 16-6). In the semifinals, Banda won by major decision over Ty Parker from Tarleton State (Maj 15-4). In the first place match, Banda won by decision over Monty Hall from Carl Albert State (Dec 10-7). Lewis won by fall over Will Restine from Carl Albert State (Fall 2:25) and later won by fall over Elijah Nichols from Central Baptist College (Fall 2:34). In the semifinals, Lewis won by decision over Jacksonq Phillips from Tarleton State (Dec 4-2). Lewis capped his performance with a sudden victory over Jude Beers from Northeast Oklahoma (SV-1 4-1). Javin Douglas placed second at 133 and Luke Adams was third at 141. Jadaan Anderson was fourth at 197. Tony Hatley was third at 197.

The Eagles will now prepare for the Luther College Open November 15 in Iowa.
