Overview:
Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Eagles opened the season against the highly-regarded Williams Baptist University Eagles Saturday in Walnut Ridge. The Eagles were shutout against Williams Baptist 8-0 in game one. The starting pitchers went back-and-forth early in the game limiting each offense. Starting pitcher
Morgan Haupt fanned four through five innings, while Williams Baptist starting pitcher Emberlin Caldwell had seven strikeouts in six innings of work. The game was 1-0 all the way until the fifth inning when Williams Baptist plated three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Williams Baptist would put four more runs on the board in the sixth.

The Eagles outhit Wiliams Baptist University only to have the home team score all four runs in the sixth inning to secure a 4-0 victory. Starting pitcher
Mack Lucio didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning. Tied 0-0, the Williams Baptist offense broke through and generated the decisive four runs. The Eagles collected six hits while limiting Williams Baptist to five.
Dez Soto and
Karsyn Tencleve each had two hits for the Eagles.
