Eagles Split With Lyon, Haupt Throws A One-Hitter

GAME ONE
Overview:
Clarksville, Ark. – A big fourth inning from Lyon College lifted the Scots over the Eagles 10-0 on Sunday in the University of the Ozarks home opener. Lyon had a 1-0 advantage after the first inning and the score remained that way all the way until the top of the fourth. Lyon exploded for nine runs on eight hits. From there, the Eagles got a runner on base in the bottom of the fourth, but couldn't get a run across. In the bottom of the fifth, Lyon retired the side to end the game. Allison Cowart paced the Eagles with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.

GAME TWO
Overview:
The Eagles got a dominating performance from starting pitcher Morgan Haupt and the Eagles plated nine runs to run rule Lyon College 9-0 in game two. Haupt had a no-hitter through 4.1 innings as she retired the side in the first, second and third. In Haupt's shutout win, she fanned eight and gave up just one hit. She did not issue a single walk. Meanwhile, the offense supported her performance with runs in the first, second, third and fifth innings. Mack Lucio hit a solo home run in the first. In the second, the Eagles recorded three hits and scored four runs. Karsyn Tencleve, Kya Schmidt and Cowart all had RBI in the frame. In the third, Haupt helped her own cause with an RBI and Cowart notched another run batted in to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead. In the fifth, Lucio had a two-run single to finish out the game. Schmit, Lucio, Haupt and Tencleve all had two hits in the game, with Lucio driving in three runs.

Up Next:
The Eagles will travel to Texas to face Schreiner University February 14-15.
