Men's Wrestling NCAA III National Tournament – March 14-15, 2025

Demetri Teddlie had a strong showing at the NCAA III Men's Wrestling Championships on Friday in Providence, Rhode Island. Teddlie ended his title run with a 3-2 record in the 157-pound weight class. Teddlie's star-studded career saw the grappler make the NCAA National Tournament twice while winning a conference title and becoming an All-Region wrestler. Teddlie was nationally ranked throughout the season and finished among the NCAA III's top-12.
MATCH 1
vs Michael Macias (Augustana)
After the first period the score was 0-0. Eventually, both wrestles scored and it was tied 1-1 early in the 3rd period. A tough match ensued for the next several minutes, but Teddlie slowly wore down Macias. Teddlie came through and scored a takedown for a 4-1 sudden victory to move on.
MATCH 2
vs Aiden Smith (Adrian College)
Smith scored first, but Teddlie came back to score one point. At the end of the first period, Smith led 6-2. In period two, Teddlie tied the match 6-6. Smith then got one point to move ahead 7-6. Smith would score again to lead 10-6. At the end of the 2nd period, Smith led 14-6. In the 3rd, Smith went ahead and finished with a 21-6 win.
MATCH 3
vs Zaren Anderson (Carthage College)
Neither wrestler had an advantage early on. In the second period, Anderson scored first to lead 1-0. Teddlie recorded three points to take a 3-2 advantage with about 30 seconds left in the second period. Heading into the third period, Teddlie led 4-2. Teddlie added three more points to hold a 7-3 lead with just seconds to go in the third. He ended the match with a 7-3 win.
MATCH 4
vs Anthony Taylor (Averett)
Teddlie started strong earning three quick points in the first period. Teddlie was relentless in the first period and owned a 11-5 lead at one point. Going into the 2nd period, Teddlie led 16-9. Teddlie continued to dominate and went in front 23-10. It was 24-10 going into the third period and Teddlie finished the match with a tech fall win.
MATCH 5
vs Peter Kane (Williams)
Neither wrestler established momentum in the first period and the score remained 0-0 after the period. The second period saw more of the same. In the third period, Kane scored one point to lead 1-0. Kane would finish the match with a takedown to gain a 4-0 advantage. Teddlie was then unable to overcome the deficit and ended his tournament run losing by decision.
