Wyatt McCaghren was named co-head coach of the clay target program.

Wyatt McCaghren ‘24 Named Co-Head Coach

Clarksville, Ark. – University of the Ozarks has announced the hiring of Wyatt McCaghren as co-head coach of the nationally renowned women's and men's clay target program.      
     
McCaghren ended his career as one of the top shooters in program history winning multiple individual titles while being a part of national championship teams. McCaghren guided the Eagles to the 2021 International Skeet and International Bunker titles and then followed up with another strong performance in 2022 to help the Eagles finish as the national runner-up. McCaghren was named an ACUI/SCTP All-American following his performance at the 2023 San Antonio national championships. The prior season, he helped the program win the International Bunker national title.
     
"We are happy to have Wyatt join the clay target program as the co-head coach," said Dr. Sergio Molina, Director of Athletics. "He was an accomplished shooter and knows the program in and out. He is one of the athletes that helped build the program into what it is today. I feel like his experience and success here will help sustain the program's prominence at the national level."
      
He posted back-to-back individual championships at the Arkansas Collegiate Shoot in 2023 and 2024. At the competition in 2023, he was the HOA while capturing the high gun in sporting clays and super sporting. The following season at the Arkansas Collegiate Shoot, he was again the overall HOA while winning the skeet and trap competition. 
     
"I'm excited for the privilege to coach the sport that was such a major part of my life," said McCaghren. "I'm looking forward to finding new shooters to give them the same opportunities I had. The clay target program has changed my life for the better. I'm very grateful to give back to the program by being a coach." 
     
A native of Mayflower, McCaghren graduated from Ozarks in 2024 with a bachelor's degree in communication studies. McCaghren joins current coach Lance Brown as co-head coach.
