Garland, Texas – The women's swim and dive team had a strong opening day at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships as two relay records and two individual records fell while the team finished the day in a first-place tie Wednesday night.
The Eagles set a new program record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:53.89. The group consisted of
Chloe Weathers,
Samantha Naramore,
Macy Weathers and
Jessie Wright. Their time placed them third. In the 800 free relay, another program record fell as
Jessie Wright,
McKinley Mize,
Samantha Naramore and
Macy Weathers swam a 8:23.61. That placed the group third. It is the first time two relay teams have finished among the top-3 at the conference championships.
Chloe Weathers would set the program record in the 50 back swimming a 28.66.
Jessie Wright would break the school record in the 200 free swimming a 2:00.06.
After one day, the women are tied for first place with 88 points.
The Championships continue tomorrow beginning at 10:30 a.m.
