Conway, Ark. - The University of the Ozarks men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 road decision to Hendrix College Sunday in Conway, Arkansas.
Hendrix secured the early advantage by sweeping all three doubles matches. Wesley McClure and James Thomson earned a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles, while the Warriors also claimed victories at No. 2 (6-3) and No. 3 (6-1) to take a 3-0 lead into singles play.
Ozarks picked up two singles wins in the match. Sergio Munoz delivered a strong performance at No. 3 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Maximilian Henderson. Perry Guidry added another point at No. 5 singles, rallying for a 4-6, 6-2, 10-6 win in a tightly contested match.
Hendrix clinched the team win with four singles victories. Wesley McClure won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and James Thomson edged Kento Iwahara 7-6, 6-4 at No. 2. Santiago Perez battled to a 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 4, and Matias Ancieta outlasted Ryan Rosalin 5-7, 6-2, 11-9 at No. 6 in another close three-set match.
The Eagles will travel to Mississippi for matches March 6-7.
