Eagles Top Schreiner 7-0

Clarksville, Ark. - The University of the Ozarks men's tennis team fell 6-1 to Southwestern University Saturday in Texas, but came back Sunday and won 7-0 against Schreiner University.

Ozarks opened the match by winning two of the three doubles contests. At No. 1 doubles, Kento Iwahara and Perry Guidry earned a 6-3 victory over Joseph Snyman and Christo Langford. Sergio Munoz and Zachary Hanson followed with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles against Bernie Clemente and Sebastian Herrera. Southwestern avoided the sweep at No. 3 doubles as Dakota Gipson and Parth Patel defeated Archie Martyn-Smith and Haru Satomura 6-0, but Ozarks secured the doubles point.

In singles play, Southwestern responded by sweeping all six matches to claim the team victory. Bernie Clemente defeated Haru Satomura 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Ashton Ellis topped Kento Iwahara 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. Nolan Alvarez earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Sergio Munoz at No. 3 singles. At No. 4 singles, Hai Vo battled past Zachary Hanson 6-3, 2-6, 10-4 in a match tiebreaker. Rylan Hastings recorded a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Perry Guidry at No. 5 singles, and Ezra Suez closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Ryan Rosalin at No. 6.

Against Schreiner, Ozarks controlled the match from the start by sweeping all three doubles contests to secure the early point. At No. 1 doubles, Kento Iwahara and Perry Guidry rolled to a 6-0 victory over Jason Soto and Ernesto Gonzalez. Sergio Munoz and Haru Satomura followed with a 6-3 win against Andrew Reyes and Ari Nadler-Torres at No. 2, while Archie Martyn-Smith and Ryan Rosalin completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 victory over Mason Thomas and Manny Flores at No. 3.

In singles play, Ozarks continued its strong showing, winning all six matches to complete the shutout. Haru Satomura opened with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-1 win over Andrew Reyes at No. 1 singles. Kento Iwahara earned a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Noah Salas at No. 2, and Sergio Munoz posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jason Soto at No. 3. Perry Guidry secured a 7-5, 6-3 victory against Ernesto Gonzalez at No. 4 singles. Ryan Rosalin defeated Austin Dimmick 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5, and Archie Martyn-Smith closed the match with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Mason Thomas at No. 6.

The Eagles will host three straight home matches beginning March 18 against UA-Fort Smith.
