Clarksville, Ark. - UA-Fort Smith delivered a strong performance on Wednesday, defeating the University of the Ozarks men's tennis team 7-0 in non-conference action.
Despite a strong effort in doubles, the Eagles were unable to carry momentum into singles play as UA-Fort Smith secured the team victory.
Ozarks picked up its lone win of the day at No. 1 doubles, where Kento Iwahara Perry Guidry battled to a 7-6 victory over Eduardo Bribiesca and Birk Arwedahl. However, UA-Fort Smith claimed the other two doubles matches to take the early point.
In singles, UA-Fort Smith controlled every court, winning all six matches in straight sets. Haru Satomura fell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1, while Seth Dunn dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision at No. 2. Nestor Carrero, Graham Blackman, Luke Boyden, and Nathan Briggs rounded out the lineup, each falling in two sets as UA-Fort Smith completed the sweep.
UA-Fort Smith improves to 4-5 on the season, while Ozarks moves to 5-5 overall.
The Eagles will host conference opponent LeTourneau University Thursday.
