Clarksville, Ark. - The University of the Ozarks men's tennis team delivered a strong all-around performance in a key 6-1 victory over conference opponent LeTourneau University on Thursday afternoon.
The Eagles set the tone early by claiming two of three doubles matches to secure the opening point. The duo of
Kento Iwahara and
Perry Guidry earned a solid 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while
Zachary Hanson and
Sergio Munoz edged their opponents in a tight 7-6 battle at No. 2.
In singles play, the Eagles showcased depth and resilience, winning five of six matches.
Kento Iwahara battled through a three-set match at No. 1 singles, after splitting the first two sets.
Sergio Munoz also rallied after dropping the opening set to win convincingly in three sets at No. 3.
Zachary Hanson added a straight-set victory at No. 4, while
Perry Guidry secured a hard-fought win that included a tiebreak in the second set.
Ryan Rosalin closed out the scoring for the Eagles with a gritty three-set win at No. 6, finishing with a 10-7 match tiebreak.
LeTourneau's lone point came at No. 2 singles, where Andrew Reiman defeated
Haru Satomura in three sets.
The Eagles will host St. Thomas Friday afternoon in another conference match.
