Longview, Texas - The University of the Ozarks softball team staged a dramatic seventh-inning comeback to defeat LeTourneau University 3-2 in SCAC action Friday evening.
Trailing 2-0 entering the final inning, the Eagles delivered three runs on clutch extra-base hits to secure the victory.
LeTourneau struck first in the opening inning to take a 1-0 lead. The YellowJackets added another run in the sixth, extending the advantage to 2-0. The Eagles broke through in the seventh inning.
Brilea Rofkahr delivered with an RBI double down the right field line to cut the deficit to 2-1. Moments later,
Emma Reynolds came through with the biggest hit of the night, driving a double to left center to score two runs and give the Eagles a 3-2 lead.
Bailee Cowell handled the rest in the circle, closing out a complete-game performance to earn the win. Cowell allowed just six hits and two runs while striking out seven.
Ozarks totaled eight hits in the contest, led by
Kamryn Uher's two-hit performance. Reynolds and Rofkahr each recorded doubles and combined for all three RBIs.
The Eagles and LeTourneau will finish their series Saturday with a double-header beginning at noon.
