Women's Tennis Drops Matches On Colorado Trip

Colorado Springs, Colo. - The University of the Ozarks women's tennis team fell to Colorado Mesa University and Colorado College 7-0 on Friday in Colorado.

Ozarks was unable to gain momentum as Colorado Mesa controlled play from the outset, sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the early point. The Eagles' top doubles team of Kelsey Smith and Brooke Humphrey dropped a 6-1 decision, while the No. 2 duo of Erika Jones and Madison Hamilton also fell 6-1. Emerson Corbin and Baylee Parnell were defeated 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Colorado Mesa won all six matches in straight sets. Kelsey Smith faced Devyn Rodriguez at No. 1 but fell 6-0, 6-0, while Brooke Humphrey dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision at No. 2. Madison Hamilton (No. 3), Erika Jones (No. 4), Emerson Corbin (No. 5), and Yamileth Lopez (No. 6) were each defeated in straight sets as well.

The Eagles faced a tough challenge against the nationally ranked Colorado College Tigers, who secured the doubles point with wins on all three courts. Brooke Humphrey and Kelsey Smith fell 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Madison Hamilton and Erika Jones dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 2. The No. 3 team of Baylee Parnell and Emerson Corbin was defeated 6-0.

In singles action, Colorado College continued its strong performance, winning all six matches in straight sets. Kelsey Smith fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, and Brooke Humphrey was defeated by the same score at No. 2. Madison Hamilton put together the most competitive showing for Ozarks at No. 3 before falling 6-2, 6-1.

Erika Jones (No. 4), Emerson Corbin (No. 5), and Yamileth Lopez (No. 6) were each defeated in straight sets as Colorado College completed the sweep.

The Eagles will take on John Brown University April 4 in Siloam Springs.
