Jackson, MS - The University of the Ozarks men's tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over Belhaven University on Thursday in Jackson, Mississippi.
Ozarks controlled the match by sweeping all three doubles contests to take the early lead. The No. 1 team of Kento Iwahara and Perry Guidry opened with a 6-2 win over Josiah Leggett and Jesus Diaz. At No. 2 doubles, Sergio Munozand Zachary Hanson earned a 6-3 victory against Briley Oakes and Harshith Anugonda, while the No. 3 pairing of Haru Satomura and Archie Martyn-Smith won 6-4 over Stephen Spencer and Paul Stager.
In singles play, Ozarks captured five of six matches to secure the win. Sergio Munoz posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Diaz at No. 2 singles, and Perry Guidry dominated his No. 4 singles match with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Spencer. Ryan Rosalin added a 6-3, 6-1 win against Oakes at No. 5 singles.
Ozarks also earned a pair of three-set victories. Zachary Hanson rallied to defeat Leggett 6-7, 6-1, 10-2 at No. 3 singles, and Seth Dunn battled back for a 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 win over Madden at No. 6 singles.
Belhaven's lone point came at No. 1 singles where Anugonda defeated Satomura 6-4, 6-4.
With the win, Ozarks improves to 1-3 on the season, while Belhaven falls to 0-8. The Eagles will remain in Mississippi for matches against Milsaps College and Blue Mountain College March 6.
