Schreiner Takes DH On Wednesday Night

Kerrville, Texas - Schreiner rallied late to stun the Eagles with a 5-4 walk-off win in eight innings Wednesday in Kerrville, Texas.

The Eagles looked in control for most of the game, building a 4-0 lead through five innings. Isabella Hulsey and Kamryn Uher led the offense, each driving in runs during a three-run fifth inning, while Bailee Cowell added an RBI single and also scored twice. Schreiner chipped away, scoring an unearned run in the fifth before capitalizing on Ozarks' defensive miscues in the seventh. Two errors helped fuel a three-run inning that tied the game at 4-4. In the eighth, Schreiner completed the comeback. Romy Nunez delivered the decisive RBI single to center, bringing home the winning run and sealing the 5-4 victory. Despite the loss, Cowell was strong in the circle for Ozarks, allowing five runs (three earned) over 7.1 innings. However, two Ozarks errors proved costly, directly contributing to multiple Schreiner runs.

Schreiner completed the doubleheader sweep winning 10-2 in game two. The Eagles struck first in the opening inning when Kamryn Uher singled home Emma Reynolds for an early 1-0 lead. However, that advantage was short-lived. Schreiner responded immediately with a three-run first inning, then kept the pressure on with two more runs in the second and two in the third to quickly build a 7-1 cushion.  The Eagles managed just one more run in the fourth on an RBI single from Brilea Rofkahr, but Schreiner answered again with two runs in the bottom half and added another in the fifth to enforce the run-rule victory.

The Eagles and Schreiner will finish their series tomorrow with a single game beginning at 12 p.m.
