University of Dallas Softball Upsets Eagles

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Irving, Texas - University of Dallas pulled out a pair of conference wins on Friday over the Eagles.

In game one, Dallas used a fast start and steady pitching to take down the Eagles 3-1.

Dallas struck early in the first inning, capitalizing on timely hitting and an Ozarks error. They added an insurance run in the third on an RBI single to make it 3-0.

The Eagles answered in the fifth inning when Kamryn Uher delivered an RBI double and later advanced to third on an error, allowing Grace Price to score. However, that would be the only run the Eagles could push across despite out-hitting Dallas 7-6.

Emma Reynolds and Uher led the offense with two hits each, while Sage Adams and Brilea Rofkahr also contributed base knocks. Still, the Eagles stranded eight runners and couldn't come up with the key hit to close the gap.

Dallas used a pitching-by-committee approach to secure the win.

In game two, Dallas edged out a tight, low-scoring 1-0 victory over the Eagles using a single run and strong pitching to secure the win.

The game's only run came in the bottom of the third inning, when Keely Mathis delivered a sacrifice fly to left field, bringing home Carolina Luna for the 1-0 lead. That would be all Dallas needed in a game dominated by pitching and defense.

Ozarks had limited offensive opportunities, finishing with just three hits on the day from Kamryn Uher, Lori-Ann Hughes, and Dez Soto. Despite drawing two walks, Ozarks couldn't capitalize, leaving eight runners on base.

Dallas pitcher Kristiana Guerra turned in a complete-game shutout, scattering three hits while allowing two walks and striking out one. She kept Ozarks off balance throughout, stranding multiple runners and preserving the narrow lead.

Defensively, Ozarks committed one error, while Dallas had three miscues but managed to avoid any damage.

The Eagles and Crusaders finish their series Saturday with a single game beginning at 11:00 a.m.
