Siloam Springs, Ark. - The University of the Ozarks women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to John Brown University on Friday afternoon in Siloam Springs.
Ozarks opened the match with a strong effort in doubles play, highlighted by a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles from the tandem of Kelsey Smith and Brooke Humphrey over John Brown's top pair. Despite the early momentum, John Brown secured the doubles point by winning at No. 2 and No. 3, including a narrow 7-5 victory on court two.
In singles action, John Brown controlled play across the lineup, winning all six matches to complete the sweep. The most competitive contest came at No. 1 singles, where Kelsey Smith pushed Arianny Sira to three sets before falling in a hard-fought 6-0, 6-7, 7-5 decision.
John Brown claimed straight-set victories at the remaining five positions, including two 6-0, 6-0 results at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
The Eagles will travel to Texas for matches against Austin College and University of Dallas April 10-11.
