Box Score Abilene, Texas - The University of the Ozarks softball team continued its magical post-season run by rallying in the seventh inning for a 6-4 win over the University of St. Thomas on Sunday in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
The Eagles struck first in the opening inning when Isabella Hulsey drove in Kamryn Uher with a single to right center. St. Thomas quickly answered, tying the game in the bottom half and then taking control with two runs in the second and another in the third to build a 4-3 advantage.
Hulsey provided another spark, blasting a two-run home run in the third inning to even the score at 3-3. She finished with a dominant performance at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBIs.
After falling behind 4-3, Ozarks remained within striking distance behind the steady pitching of Bailee Cowell, who went the distance in the circle. Cowell scattered 10 hits but limited the damage, allowing just three earned runs while striking out three.
The Eagles broke through in the seventh inning. Skylar Ward scored the tying run on a St. Thomas fielding error, setting the stage for Hulsey once again. The junior delivered the go-ahead blow with a two-run single to left field, giving the Eagles a 6-4 lead.
Cowell shut the door in the bottom of the seventh retiring the side to secure the come-from-behind win.
The Eagles will face Concordia University Texas Sunday night at 8:00 p.m.
