Clarksville, Ark. - The University of the Ozarks men's tennis program received academic recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), it was announced by college tennis' governing body recently.  
     
The men's team earned the ITA Team Academic Award. In order to receive the award, the team must have a combined team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale). The men's program also had four athletes on the ITA Scholar-Athlete Team. The team included Luke Boyden, a junior health science major from Zandvoort, Netherlands; Nestor Carrero, a freshman finance major from Russellville; Kento Iwahara, a senior health science major from Fukuoka, Japan; and Joseph Guidry, a senior finance major from Lafayette, La.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a letterwinner and maintain a GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
