Women's Tennis Team Competes At East Texas Invitational

Longview, Texas - The University of the Ozarks women's tennis team opened its fall season at the LeTourneau Invitational, playing a full slate of competitive matches against LeTourneau, Hendrix and Hardin-Simmons University September 11-12. 

Against LeTourneau, the Eagles fell in their doubles matches. Anaiah Smith and Maddi Nichol defeated Marian Hendricks and Danielle Symonds 8-2; Chloe Tesser and Madeline Chilek defeated Melody Eaves and Hailey Janes 8-5; Cambrey Johnson and Samantha Ferguson defeated Kynzengten Beaudry and Jillian Key 8-3; and Lindley Vickers and Morgan Yost defeated Kynzengten Beaudry and Jillian Key 8-4. In singles, Marian Hendrixks battled to a 6-4, 6-4 loss against Maddi Nichol.  Melody Eaves narrowly lost to Anaiah Smith 6-4, 7-6 (7-1). 

Against Hendrix, the Eagles won two of three doubles matches. Marian Hendricks and Melody Eaves defeated Caroline Lasley and Aysha Hosam 8-4 and Danielle Symonds and Baylee Parnell defeated Kai Fulmer and Jacee Wheat 8-6. Hailey Janes and Audrey Skinner fell to Evie Sandlin and Jordan Jadzok 8-1. In singles, the Eagles picked up three wins: Kynzengten Beaudry defeated Jacee Wheat 3-6, 6-2 (10-7); Audrey Skinner defeated Sabrina Miller 6-2, 6-2; and Danielle Symonds defeated Jordan Jadzok 6-2, 6-4. 

Against Hardin-Simmons, the Eagles won one doubles match, Marian Hendricks and Melody Eaves over Emma Curiel and Landry Lawler 8-7 (7-5). The Eagles lost their singles matches.

Freshman Marian Hendricks reflected on her first collegiate tennis weekend.

"This weekend was such an awesome experience," said Hendricks. "It was my first college tennis competition, and I had a great time. The atmosphere is awesome; it really is a privilege to get to feel that pressure. The team performed well, worked really hard, and most of the results showed that." 

The Eagles hit the road again for matches in Marshall, Texas, September 18-19.
