THE BASICS
Jackson, Miss. - The Eagles capped a 2-0 performance at the Millsaps College Tournament by posting a 69-65 win over Belhaven University on Saturday. The Eagles avenged an earlier loss to the Blazers in the second week of the season. The Eagles held the lead for nearly the entire first half and went into halftime with a narrow 36-34 advantage. The second half went back-and-forth with the Eagles owning a 46-42 lead on Amari Leflore's three-pointer at the 11:48 mark. JaRayli Peoples had a dunk and Terry Moss drilled a three-pointer to give the Eagles a 55-48 advantage with seven minutes to go. James Mathews hit another three-pointer to give the Eagles a double digit lead with less than three minutes to play. The Eagles were able to take care of the ball throughout the game turning it over only eight times. Justice Marmara led the team with 17 points. Leflore came off the bench to drill 3-of-5 from long range and finished with 11 points.
