Clarksville, Ark. – The Eagles posted an impressive 75-50 win over rival Hendrix College to open the season on Friday night. The Eagles used a large and vocal crowd to fuel a game in which they never trailed. The Eagles clamped down on defense and never let off the gas on the offensive end to finish with its largest margin of victory in the
Matt Bolton era. The Eagles defense forced 21 turnovers and Hendrix shot just 35 percent from the field in the game. At the half, the Eagles held a comfortable 46-20 lead.
Justice Marmara drilled a three-pointer at the 5:57 mark of the first half to give the Eagles a 32-12 lead. Hendrix would battle back in the second half and actually outscore the Eagles 30-29 but it wouldn't matter. Overall, the Eagles won the rebounding game with a 45-32 advantage. Three players reached double figures in scoring with
Cedrick Dodd leading the way with 18. Marmara added 14 and
James Mathews had 11.
JaRayl Peoples pulled down 11 rebounds.

TURNING POINT
The Eagles overwhelmed the Warriors in the first half to make a comeback difficult for Hendrix after leading 46-20 at halftime.
TIP-INS
Cedrick Dodd scored 18 points in his Ozarks debut. Dodd hit 8-of-8 from the free throw line to help lead the team in scoring.
