Conway, Arkansas – The Eagles faced a strong battle against Hendrix College in SCAC play this Saturday, dropping the match with a final score of 3-0.
Hendrix started the match with powerful hits that forced the Eagles to adjust their defense early and responded with attacks by Brooke Humphrey and Emerson Corbin. However, Hendrix 0.519 hitting percentage made it difficult to contain, causing the Eagles to drop the first set 25-12.
During the second set, the Eagles continued to show resilience in their defense with Lauralai Bradley making several digs, while Corbin served strongly, and Arianna Gomez and Alyssa Carlisle made timely kills. Midway through the set, the Eagles had a gap of 16-19 with a strong three-point run. Although Hendrix held 25-18, the Eagles' competitiveness showed their powerful abilities.
For the final set, the Eagles began strong with Humphrey leading aggressive offenses and Corbin spreading the ball effectively and helping the Eagles to score effectively together. In the middle of the set, the Eagles narrowed the score to 15-18 after a sequence of solid serves and defenses. Eventually, Hendrix secured the 25-17 win.
Brooke Humphrey had nine kills and seven digs, Lauralai Bradley 13 digs, Emerson Corbin 13 assists and three aces. As a team result, 39 digs, 26 kills, and three aces.
The Eagles will travel to Siloam Springs on October 15 for a junior varsity match against John Brown University at 6:00 p.m.
