Clarksville, Ark. - The Eagles won a key home match against Centenary College taking an impressive 3-0 win in conference play.
The Eagles dominated the first set by scoring the first points with a strong service ace by Emerson Corbin. However, the set became a back-and-forth battle where Centenary responded and tied it 15-15, and then 24-24 by the end, where Eagles executed under pressure and a service error by Castillo from Centenary gave Ozarks the lead. The Eagles won the first set 26-24.
The Eagles came back to court for the second set with energy and strength compiling early kills from Samantha Barnes, Madesyn Monroe, and Emerson Corbin, which kept Centenary off balance with aggressive servings. Midway through the set, Ozarks led 11-15 making their efficiency remarkable by recording 12 kills on 27 attempts with just one error and with a 0.407 hitting percentage, the highest of the match. The set ended with a 25-19 win.
For the final set, the battle became harder since both teams traded blows. Centenary was pushing the set into extended play, but the Eagles delivered decisive kills by Madesyn Monroe, who led them to a 27-25 win.
Jilian Childs had 17 assists and Brooke Humphrey had 12 digs and nine kills. Madesyn Monroe recorded 12 digs and seven kills.
The Eagles will host LeTourneau University on Saturday at 1p.m.
