Brooke Humphrey Named SCAC First-Year Player of the Year

Clarksville, Ark. – University of the Ozarks freshman volleyball player has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) First-Year Player of the Year, the league office announced today.

Humphrey, a native of Castle Rock, Colo., also made the All-Conference Team as an Honorable Mention player.

An outside hitter, Humphrey made an immediate impact on the program quickly proving to among the top players in the SCAC. She led all first-years within the conference in both total kills (247 – 11th in the SCAC) and kills per set (2.98 – eighth in the SCAC) as well as points (280.5 – 11th in the SCAC) and points per set (3.4 – ninth in the SCAC) during the regular season. She had seven double-doubles over the course of the Eagles' inaugural season of varsity volleyball, including a stretch where she posted double-digit kills and digs in six of seven matches from September 2 to September 20. Humphrey had a season-high 19 kills in her second collegiate match and reached double digits in kills 11 times during the season.
