THE BASICS
Clarksville, Ark. – The Eagles opened the 2025-26 season with a tough loss against Southwestern University on Friday. Southwestern built a 32-28 halftime advantage and would hold that lead until the eight-minute mark of the second half. An inside bucket from Dylan Ducharme would even the game at 40-40. Two minutes later, Dylan Archey would drill a big three-pointer to keep the game close and just as when it appeared the Eagles would seize the momentum, Southwestern moved ahead by seven points. From there, the Pirates kept the lead the rest of the way. The Eagles shot 39 percent from the field while the Pirates shot 42 percent. Both teams were cold from the free throw line as the Pirates hit only 42 percent and the Eagles hit 60 percent. DJ Miller led the Eagles with 23 points off the bench.

TURNING POINT
After the Eagles tied the game 43-43, Southwestern outscored the home team 22-14 in the final eight minutes of the contest.
