THE BASICS
Clarksville, Ark. – The Eagles pulled off one of the season's biggest upsets in men's NCAA III toppling No. 18 University of St. Thomas Friday night 78-76. St. Thomas came in the game with a 20-1 record and a spotless league mark only to have the Eagles remove the sting from its last two losses. The Eagles took the wind out of St. Thomas opening the game with a 13-5 lead. The Eagles were on fire in the first half hitting 62 percent from the field.
Cedrick Dodd would hit three three-pointers during that span. The stunned Celts were down by 15 points at one point in the first half. At halftime, the hungry Eagles owned a 37-28 advantage. The Eagles kept calm in the second half and never let go of the lead. St. Thomas did make it close late in the game, trimming the deficit to one point with 30 seconds remaining.
Amari Leflore would hit a clutch free throw with 15 seconds left to push the lead back to two points. The Eagles' win comes on the cusp of some frustrating losses this season and is one of the few wins over a top-25 opponent during Ozarks' NCAA III era.
Justice Marmara led the Eagles with 17 points.
