Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks Athletic Department held an Athletic Celebration Award Ceremony – The Ozzy's - Sunday afternoon to honor the academic and athletic accomplishments of its student-athletes and teams.
The 2024-2025 Female Athlete of the Year award was given to cross country, swim and track student-athlete Chloe Weathers. The 2024-2025 Male Athlete of the Year award was given to wrestler Demetri Teddlie.
Weathers, a junior from Clarksville, Ark., won the athletic department's top award for the second straight year. During the 2024-25 season, she excelled at cross country, swim and track. In cross country, she was named All-Conference and broke her own school 6k record running a 23:05.65. She also broke her own school 5k record during the season posting a time of 18:23. She was SCAC Runner of the Week once during the season. In 2023, she was named the American Southwest Conference Cross County Newcomer of the Year and earned All-Conference First Team honors. Weathers represented the Eagles at the NCAA III Regional Cross Country Championships in Rock Island, Illinois. In swimming, she owns school records in the 50 backstroke and 100 backstroke and helped four relays break program marks - the 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relays. In track, she ranked 11th in the conference in the 1500, tenth in the 5k and fourth in the 10k. She owns school track outdoor records in the mile (5:15), 10k (39:43.60) and 5k (18:15.24). Her indoor records include the 1000 (3:22.43) and mile (5:25). She is a member SCAC Honor Roll and University's President's list. She was named to the SCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Teddlie, a senior from Shreveport, La., was named the top men's student-athlete in his first season on campus. Teddlie qualified for the 2025 NCAA III National Championships and was ranked among the NCAA III top wrestlers in the 157-pound weight class all season. He won the individual St. Louis Intercollegiate Conference title while helping the program win its second straight conference championship. For his efforts, he was named to the All-Conference First Team. Teddlie owned 26 wins and was named SLIAC Wrestler of the Week multiple times. He ended the year ranked No. 10 in NCAA III. At the NCAA III National Championships, he finished among the top-12. During the season, he placed fourth at the Pete Wilson and went to the finals of the NCAA III regional where he beat the No. 4 and No. 8 nationally-ranked wrestlers. Additionally this season, he was named a Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
