No. 3 Texas Lutheran Takes Double-Header

Clarksville, Ark. - The No. 3 Texas Lutheran Bulldogs capitalized on defensive miscues and strong pitching to defeat the Eagles softball 9-0 in six innings Friday afternoon in SCAC play.

Texas Lutheran (14-2, 11-1 SCAC) scored three unearned runs in the opening inning and never looked back. An Ozarks error allowed the first run to score before RBI singles from Serena Gonzalez and Ashley McMahon pushed the Bulldogs ahead 3-0.

The Bulldogs added two more runs in the fourth inning to lead 5-0.

Texas Lutheran continued to take advantage of Ozarks defensive miscues in the fifth inning, plating two unearned runs to build a 7-0 advantage and later added two more runs.

Ozarks (11-5, 7-3 SCAC) collected five hits in the game, with Kamryn Uher recording two of them. Bailee Cowell added a hit while taking the loss in the circle after allowing five runs (two earned) over four innings.

Ozarks committed five errors in the contest, which led to six unearned runs for the Bulldogs.

Game Two

The Bulldogs completed a doubleheader sweep with a 14-3 victory in game two.

Texas Lutheran jumped out quickly, scoring three runs in the first inning. A sacrifice fly from Jordyn Joy opened the scoring before a fielding error and a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded extended the Bulldogs' lead to 3-0. Ozarks answered in the bottom of the inning when Sage Adams singled up the middle to bring home Emma Reynolds.

The Bulldogs added two runs in the second on a two-run double and then broke the game open in the third inning with four more runs.

Ozarks continued to battle offensively. Adams drove in another run with an infield single in the third, and Brilea Rofkahr delivered an RBI double in the fourth to cut the deficit to 9-3.

Texas Lutheran pulled away late with a five-run seventh inning.

Ozarks collected eight hits in the contest. Adams finished with two hits and two RBI, while Rofkahr recorded two hits including a double and an RBI. Reynolds scored twice for the Eagles.

The two teams finish their SCAC series Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
