Clarksville, Ark. - The University of the Ozarks softball team was held scoreless as No. 3 Texas Lutheran University edged the Eagles 2-0 in conference action Saturday morning.
Texas Lutheran (16-2, 13-1 SCAC) broke through early, scoring in the first inning when Taylor Vannett doubled to left field to drive in Caelee Clark for a 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs added an insurance run in the fourth inning for the game's final score.
Ozarks (11-7, 7-5 SCAC) matched Texas Lutheran with five hits but was unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving seven runners on base.
Kamryn Uher led the Eagles at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance, including a double.
Jorden Hodges,
Lori-Ann Hughes and
Brilea Rofkahr each added a hit for Ozarks.
Bailee Cowell (7-3) turned in a strong outing in the circle for the Eagles, allowing just five hits and two runs over seven innings while striking out two.
The Eagles will now hit the road for a three-game series against LeTourneau University March 20-21.
