Clarksville, Ark. – A trio of University of the Ozarks women's basketball players received post-season awards from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).
Abby Beene headlined the list by earning Second Team All-SCAC honors.
Lili Garcia and
Kennedi Wight were named to the All-SCAC Honorable Mention Team.
Beene, a junior guard from Bauxite, Arkansas, ranked among the SCAC's top-20 in four categories. She ranked seventh in scoring (14.0), 17th in field goal percentage (40%), 15th in three-point percentage (31%) and 16th in assists per game (1.9). Beene led the team in three-pointers made with 48 while hitting 76 percent from the free throw line. She also averaged 5.1 rebounds per game. She scored a career high 32 points against Lyon behind a 13-of-23 effort from the field. The 5-foot-9 Beene had 21 games scoring in double figures and had three double-doubles. She hit a three-pointer in 23 games, including six against Hendrix College. She hit two or more three-pointers 15 times.
Garcia, a senior guard from Ferris, Texas, ranked fourth in the SCAC in assists per game (4.3) while scoring 8.1 points per game. In addition to leading the team in assists, Garcia led the team in three-point percentage at 40.5 percent, hitting 17-of-42. She dished out nine assists against Lyon and had a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds against Rhodes. The 5-foot-6 guard ends her career among the most prolific passers in program history finishing with 265 career assists, seventh all-time at Ozarks.
Wight, a sophomore from Muldrow, Okla., ranked 11th in the conference in scoring (12.0), 17th in rebounding (5.9), ninth in free throw percentage (75%), 16th in assists per game (1.9) and 11th in blocks (.65). Her 5.9 rebound average led the team and her 12.0 points per game average was second highest on the team. Wight hit 25 three-pointers during the season and drilled four against St. Thomas. Her season high was 23 points against Hendrix. The 5-foot-11 Wight recorded three double-doubles during the season. She had four blocks against Lyon.
The trio helped the Eagles to the post-season and its most conference wins since the 2018-2019 season.
