Abilene, Texas - No. 3 Texas Lutheran University used steady offense and capitalized on defensive miscues to defeat the Eagles 6-1 on Saturday afternoon in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
The Eagles are now set to play Centenary at 10:00 a.m. Sunday in an elimination game.
Against Texas Lutheran, the Eagles struck first in the opening inning when Kendall Lynch delivered an RBI single to center, scoring Kamryn Uher for an early 1-0 lead. That would be the Eagles' only run of the game, however, as Texas Lutheran responded immediately and controlled the rest of the contest.
The Bulldogs tied the game in the second inning on an RBI single, then took the lead for good in the third on an RBI triple. Texas Lutheran continued to build its advantage with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings before adding two more in the sixth, aided by Ozarks errors.
Ozarks finished with four hits on the day, with Emma Reynolds, Isabella Hulsey, Kendall Lynch, and Brilea Rofkahr each recording one. Lynch accounted for the Eagles' lone RBI.
Bailee Cowell went the distance in the circle for the Eagles.
Texas Lutheran totaled 11 hits.
