Abilene, Texas - Behind a complete-game performance from Bailee Cowell and timely hitting, the Eagles secured a 3-1 victory over Centenary College on Sunday morning to advance and play tonight at 5:30 p.m.
Cowell went the distance in the circle, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out four to earn the win. She kept Centenary off balance throughout, stranding five runners and limiting scoring opportunities.
The Eagles got on the board in the second inning when Isabella Hulsey launched a solo home run to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead. The advantage grew in the third after Cowell helped her own cause with an RBI single to center field, scoring Brilea Rofkahr to make it 2-0.
Centenary responded in the fifth inning, cutting the deficit to 2-1. But the Eagles answered right back in the sixth. Sage Adams came through with an RBI single to right center, bringing home Hulsey and providing an insurance run that pushed the lead to 3-1.
The Eagles finished with five hits on the day, highlighted by multi-hit efforts from Rofkahr and a home run from Hulsey, who also scored twice.
Cowell allowed just five hits in the game.
