Clarksville, Ark. –
Marshall Owens was named the new assistant baseball coach at University of the Ozarks, it was announced this week.
Owens, who coached with new Ozarks head coach
Chad Harris at University of Wisconsin-Platteville, served as the recruiting coordinator and pitching coach the last two seasons there. As the recruiting coordinator, Owens oversaw all recruiting aspects for the program, including the identification of players, working with admissions and providing campus tours. Owens began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at UW-Platteville.
"I'm excited to have Coach Owens join our program," said Harris. "He is extremely trustworthy, a hard worker, and I know he will help recruit the type of student-athlete we are looking for at Ozarks. With him being from Texas, I am confident Coach Owens will locate some of the top talent in DFW and the surrounding regions."
At UW-Platteville, Owens helped the 2026 pitching staff set a new program record in most strikeouts in a season (273). UW-Platteville had both the Conference Player of the Year and Conference Newcomer of the Year in 2026 as well as a pair of All-Region players and one of the top relief pitchers in the entire conference. The 2026 club also received votes in the NCAA III top-25 poll. The 2025 Pioneers posted four wins against top-10 teams, including a pair of victories against eventual national champion UW-Whitewater and qualified for the post-season. Additionally, the program received the ABCA Academic Excellence award back-to-back seasons with Owens as the recruiting coordinator.
"I am excited for the opportunity to coach at Ozarks," said Owens. "The natural beauty of the town and campus is what drew me in. I am not only excited for the opportunity to coach, but to also prepare young men for life."
Owens, from Fort Worth, Texas, pitched at both Dallas Northlake College and Central Christian College.
He earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Central Christian College in 2023. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in sport administration.
