Clarksville, Ark. – A familiar face is back on staff for the University of the Ozarks men's soccer team as Denzel Sequeira Chavez '25 was named the new assistant coach, it was announced by head coach Aaron Brueckner. 
     
Chavez was a player/manager from 2021-2024 under Brueckner. Chavez assisted with training sessions, game-day preparation and the day-to-day operations of the program. During his time at Ozarks, he helped 24 players earned All-Conference and assisted the team to a pair of playoff appearances.
     
"Denzel is an outstanding addition to the coaching staff, athletic department and university," said Brueckner. "For me, it is a proud moment to see Denzel in collegiate coaching. I always knew he had the potential to coach young men because of his servant heart and passion to help others succeed. The program will greatly benefit from a young coach who not only knows our culture but is a product of the process. Most importantly, the program is adding a Godly man who walks by faith in Christ." 
     
While at Ozarks, he was a resident assistant, sports information student assistant and won the Robert Berry Fulton Award for Communications. Following graduation, Chavez spent a year at Lake Tahoe's Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center as a youth program development intern. 
     
He graduated from Ozarks in 2025 with a bachelor's degree in communication studies.
