THE BASICS
Belhaven spoiled the Eagles Thursday afternoon conference match by overcoming a 2-0 deficit and ending with a 2-2 tie. The Eagles wasted little time getting on the board as Skylar Brown netted a goal in the 3rd minute on a header off a corner kick from Rebecca Peterson. Madison Chaney followed with a goal in the 16th minute to give the Eagles a 2-0 advantage. Just when the Eagles appeared to be in control, Belhaven answered with a goal just seconds later. With the score 2-1 at halftime, Belhaven scored the equalizer in the 72nd minute. With neither team scoring after that, the match went into overtime where the Eagles had five shots. Belhaven had just one, but it hit the crossbar. The Eagles had a strong offensive attack all match with 22 shots and 17 shots on goal. The Eagles forced Belhaven into 15 saves.
