THE BASICS
Brownwood, Texas – Howard Payne University used a strong fourth quarter to overcome a third quarter deficit and pull out a 67-58 win over the Eagles Saturday in Brownwood, Texas. The Eagles held a 13-10 lead after the first quarter, but went into halftime trailing 27-24. But the Eagles had a strong start to the second half. Heaven Hayden completed a three-point play to move ahead 32-21. Hayden hit two more free throws and Amanda Turpin drilled a three-pointer to push the lead to 37-31. The Eagles led 48-43 after three quarters, but Howard Payne came back to outscore the visitors 24-10 in the fourth. Hayden scored 25 points and hit 13-of-14 from the free throw line. The Eagles hit 20-of-22 from the free throw line.
