THE BASICS
Clarksville, Ark. – The Eagles edged LeTourneau University 62-58 for their first conference win of the season Thursday night. The Eagles held a 50-39 lead heading into the fourth quarter, but LeTourneau stormed back to cut it to single digits. A three-pointer by LeTourneau pulled them within 54-50 with 4:35 remaining in the game.
Naomi Smith had a big steal and layup at the 2:31 mark to give the Eagles a 57-54 lead. The Eagles controlled the first and second quarter and held a 31-26 lead at halftime.
Abby Beene nailed a long three-pointer as the buzzer sounded to end the third quarter. LeTourneau never took the lead in the fourth quarter but cut it to two points with 1:29 left.
Heaven Hayden led the Eagles with 14 points.
