THE BASICS
Shreveport, La. – The Eagles opened conference play with a 68-54 win over Centenary College Wednesday night and improved to 5-1 overall.
Kelsey Ground opened the scoring with a three-pointer and the Eagles never trailed the rest of the game. At halftime, the Eagles led 35-25. Centenary climbed within five points in the third quarter, but the Eagles turned it up a notch and went into the fourth holding a 52-36 advantage. The Eagles went on a 13-0 run during the third quarter. Another Ground three-pointer gave the Eagles a 65-44 lead with 5:24 remaining in the game.
Naomi Smith had another double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds.
Abby Beene hit 10-of-12 from the free throw line and scored 15 points.

TURNING POINT
After Centenary cut the deficit to 37-32 with 6:12 left in the third quarter, the Eagles went on a 13-0 run.

Naomi Smith posted her fifth straight double-double of the season with 17 points and ten rebounds.
