THE BASICS
Marshall, Texas – East Texas Baptist University had a huge first quarter outscoring the Eagles 20-9 to claim a 72-61 win Thursday night in Texas. The Eagles are currently in sixth place among conference schools with one regular season game to go. The Tigers owned a 38-25 halftime lead and then held a double digit lead in the third quarter.  The Eagles made a run in the fourth quarter trimming the deficit to single digits. Amanda Turpin hit a pair of free throws with 6:22 remaining to make it 58-50. The Eagles kept it close and pulled within 67-61 at the 1:20 mark but couldn't get any closer. The Tigers pulled down 51 rebounds, while the Eagles had 29. Turpin led the Eagles with 21 points.
