Eagles Fly To Win Over Concordia

THE BASICS
Clarksville, Ark. – The Eagles fought off Concordia University Texas in the fourth quarter to pick up a key 68-61 conference win on Thursday night. The Eagles started strong scoring 16 points in the first quarter and 15 points in the second quarter to hold a 31-22 advantage at halftime. Abby Beene's three-pointer at the 4:11 mark of the third quarter gave the Eagles a 42-32 lead.  Heading into the fourth, the Eagles led 46-38, but Concordia made a run moving ahead 49-48 with 6:42 left in the game. Amanda Turpin nailed a three-pointer to even the score, 51-51. Turpin would hit another from long-range to make it 56-51 with less than five minutes to go. Concordia would eventually close the gap to 64-61 with about a minute to go, but that would be as close as they would get. Turpin led the Eagles with 22 points behind a 5-of-9 effort from the three-point line.

TURNING POINT
The Eagles fought off a late run by Concordia using a key out of bounds play near the end to secure the win. Amanda Turpin took the ball out of bounds and lobbed it to Heaven Hayden for an easy layup.

TIP-INS
Amanda Turpin drilled five three-pointers in the game, the third time this season she has hit five or more.
