THE BASICS
Houston, Texas – University of St. Thomas built a 41-33 halftime lead and then went on to a 76-52 win over the Eagles Friday night in conference play. St. Thomas had a strong shooting night hitting over 51 percent from the field while holding the Eagles to around 27 percent in the game. The Eagles opened the second half with a nice run to trim the deficit to 43-39, but St. Thomas answered with an 8-0 run to spark a double digit lead the rest of the way. James Mathews led the Eagles with 17 points.

TURNING POINT
After the Eagles trimmed the deficit to four points five minutes into the second half, St. Thomas reeled off an 8-0 run to spark a double digit lead the rest of the way.
