Game One Overview
Clarksville, Ark.- The Eagles completed a comeback win to open the season with a 10-4 victory over Schreiner University on Friday in game one. The Mountaineers took a 3-1 lead after the first inning , but only scored once more the rest of the game. Schreiner led 4-1 after five innings but the Eagles rallied with a pair of runs in the sixth on
Taber Childs two-run double. The Eagles then took control of the game in the seventh scoring seven runs.
Joseph Coon smacked a three-run homer to give the Eagles a 6-4 advantage.
Langdon Townsend followed with a two-run single and
Joseph Hardin completed the big inning with a two-run single. In all, the Eagles recorded 15 hits.
Jaden Kulms took the win in relief after tossing one inning.
Jake Estrada went six innings as the starter and struck out seven. Coon went 4-for-5 with four RBI and Hardin went 3-for-5 with two RBI.
Game Two Overview
The Eagles scored three runs in the first inning and three runs in the second inning to take an early 6-0- lead en route to a 8-6 game two win. Coon smashed a three-run homer in the first and drove in another run in the second to complete a monster game for the newcomer. Also in the second, Ben Matos had a two-run single. The Eagles had a 7-2 lead after frames, but allowed four runs in the top of the seventh. The Eagles got a run back in the eight and then finished off the Mountaineers in the ninth. Aiden Shae went six innings as the starter to receive the win and struck out three. Coon paced the offense with a 3-for-5 performance and five RBI.
