THE BASICS
Clarksville, Ark. – In an incredible turn of events, McMurry University found a way to come from six points down with 1:30 remaining in the game to edge the Eagles in a wild 85-84 win Friday night. The Eagles appeared to have the game under control late, but McMurry had other ideas. Cedric Dodd hit a free throw to give the Eagles a 79-73 lead. However, McMurry hit a three-pointer on its next possession.
James Mathews made a hard driving layup with around one minute to play and then forced a turnover, but the Eagles were unable to convert. McMurry responded with a three-pointer to trim the deficit to 81-79 with 30 seconds left. McMurry recorded a steal and scored while also being fouled for a three-point play to move ahead 82-81. Mathews answered with a layup and was fouled to put the Eagles back in front 84-82 with around ten seconds left. But McMurry clinched the game with a three-pointer with two ticks left. Jasques Njeanwobe had a huge night scoring 20 points and grabbing 13 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. He went 8-for-11 from the field.
