Eagles Fall to Concordia in Second-Half Surge

Clarksville, Ark. – The University of the Ozarks men's basketball team could not hold off a strong second-half push from Concordia University Texas, falling 81-70 on Sunday afternoon. Despite holding a five-point halftime lead, the Eagles struggled to contain the Tornados' offensive efficiency in the second half.

The Eagles came out strong in the first half, shooting 41.4% from the field and knocking down five three-pointers to take a 36-31 lead into the break. Justice Marmara led the way for the Eagles with 19 points, going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. James Matthews contributed 13 points and five assists, while Amari Leflore added 12 points on four three-pointers.

Concordia responded in the second half with a dominant offensive performance, outscoring the Eagles 50-34. The Tornados shot an impressive 61.5% from the field and 92.9% from the free-throw line after halftime, led by Joey Ramirez, who finished with a game-high 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Donovan Stafford provided a strong presence off the bench, scoring 15 points and hitting two three-pointers.

The Eagles struggled to find their rhythm in the second half, shooting just 36.7% from the field and 21.4% from beyond the arc. The Eagles also turned the ball over 14 times, which Concordia capitalized on with 11 points off turnovers. Despite an edge in rebounding (38-29), the Eagles could not overcome Concordia's efficient shooting and well-balanced scoring attack.

With the loss, Ozarks will look to bounce back in their next matchup against the University of St. Thomas on February 14th at 7:30 p.m. in Clarksville.
