Eagles Split DH With Big Ninth Inning Rally

Game One Overview
Shreveport, La. – Centenary College overcame a 5-2 deficit late in the game to pull out a 6-5 come from behind win in game one on Saturday. The Eagles opened the game by scoring three runs in the first inning behind a Joseph Coon three-run homer. Centenary answered with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning. Neither team would score until the seventh when the Eagles' Rene Garcia singled in Taber Childs. The Eagles added another run in the eighth when Benjamin Matos singled in Conner Reed. Centenary cut the deficit to 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth and then kept the Eagles scoreless in the top of the ninth. The Gents rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth and won the game on a walk-off single. Jake Dempsey started and went 6.2 innings striking out six. Coon led the Eagles with three RBI.  

Game Two Overview
The Eagles rallied for a 9-6 win in game two thanks to a four-run ninth and a strong performance from relief pitcher Jhasir Camano to close the door on Centenary. The Eagles would rough up eight Centenary pitchers in the game. Trailing 1-0, the Eagles generated three runs in the fourth inning to take the lead. Childs had a solo home run and Joseph Hardin singled in a pair of runs. Centenary took back the lead in the fifth scoring four runs. Still trailing, Reed singled in a run in both the seventh and eighth innings to trim the Eagle deficit to 6-5. Meanwhile, Camano pitched three scoreless innings to set up the comeback for the Eagles. In the top of the ninth, the Eagles drew three walks to load the bases with one out. Hardin recorded a sacrifice fly to bring home a run and even the score, 6-6. Michael White then doubled in a pair of runs to give the Eagles the lead for good. Reed followed with another RBI single for the final run of the game. Camano got two quick outs in the bottom half of the inning before the Gents notched a base hit. But Camano forced a ground ball to end the game. Reed had three hits and three RBI and Hardin had two hits and three RBI. Camano received the win.

The Eagles will finish their series against Centenary tomorrow with a nine-inning game beginning at 12:00 p.m.
